AWARD WINNING SERIES 'KAMPUNG BOY' TO AIR ON FOX FAMILY CHANNEL FRIDAY, SEPT 28

Fox Family Channel will air an award-winning episode of KAMPUNG BOY Friday, Sept. 28, (7:00 AM ET/PT). The series garnered the Best Animated Television Series award at the 1999 Annecy International Film Festival.

From a traditional village tucked away in the lush jungle of Malaysia, KAMPUNG BOY tells about the adventures of Mat, a nine year old boy, his family and his friends as they struggle to maintain traditional family values in an ever-changing technology-obsessed world. KAMPUNG BOY explores rewarding themes such as loyalty, family and ecology.

KAMPUNG BOY is based upon the comic strip created by world-renowned cartoonist and recent Eisenhower Fellow, Mohamed Nor Khalid, known professionally as "Lat" whose cartoons and comic books have been wildly popular in South East Asia and throughout the world for over 20 years. "KAMPUNG BOY has a lot of heart and the characters are wonderful," says Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons. "I’ve been a fan of Lat’s comic book series for 15 years and the show really captures its lively, fun spirit."

Lat, who created the character designs and key artwork, worked closely with the Emmy™-Nominated producer and director Frank Saperstein, to develop storylines and preserve the overall integrity of the series. Saperstein, who was responsible for all elements of production, regularly shuttled between facilities in Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Los Angeles to work with the international crew.

KAMPUNG BOY has also been featured as part of the Asian Collection at the Hiroshima International Festival in Japan, the Singapore Animation Fiesta, Prix Jenuesse Video Bar in Munich, Germany and is permanently archived at The Museum of Television & Radio in both New York and Los Angeles.

The series has been a cover feature in Kidscreen Magazine, Animation World Network and has been featured on the behind-the-scenes television series "Splat." KAMPUNG BOY is an international co-production partnership between Measat Broadcast Network Systems in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, pasi, philippine animation studio, inc. in Manila, the Philippines, and Matinee Entertainment in Los Angeles. This series is distributed internationally by London-based ITEL in numerous territories.
